Blog Icon Good AdSense - The In’s and Out’s

Posted in Google Adsense by Dave on April 14th, 2007

Just presenting a basic interpertation of the Google AdSense system for publishers…

Overview : Google Adsense has the highest saturation and largest publisher and advertiser membership of any of the PPC (Pay Per Click) affiliate program’s available. It is also one of the more strict programs in terms of rules and in terms of enforcing those rules.

Click Fraud : Google AdSense is very tough on “click fraud”, which is a good thing because anybody who has used AdWords to advertise their sites on Google can attest to the fact the rates in AdWords can be quite steep for the return, and “click fraud” abusers are wasting advertiser’s dollars. If advertisers don’t see a valid return, they’re not likely to use the service in the future and the publishers earning a modest income will suffer as well from lack of interested advertisers.

Tips : If you’re a webmaster using Google’s Adsense, I highly recommend that you do not click on Adsense ads on your site and/or on other sites. If you have children or family who might be visiting your website from within your home, make sure to remind them all not to click on the Adsense ads or disable Adsense Ads totally in your hosts file (Google “disable adsense hosts” for info). I saw one person banned from Adsense because his 7 year old daughter thought she would make her daddy a lot of money by sitting and clicking on the Adsense ads on his site. What I didn’t understand is why can’t Adsense programming discredit duplicate hits from the same IP like Adbrite does?

Customer Service : Google generally has very good customer service if you are an AdWords subscriber and have a credit card on file with them. If you are strictly a publisher, their attitude differs considerable and finding adequate support can be tedious unless of course you are making decent money through AdSense.

ABP Opinion
Google AdSense revolutionized the internet publishing business. It also challenges publishers to meet a higher standard in order to be a part of their affiliate program.
