Wow, I never knew that Google promotes that. I thought it's the GoDaddy, SEDO and other web hosting companies that slap Adsense on those pages until someone takes that domain.

Power corrupts, right? ;)

It's really a slap in the face to all Adsense publishers that Google sells everybody out like this. It's one thing that they say no Pharmaceutical sites, no paid to read email sites, etc but if you search Google you'll find hundreds of sponsored links for those banned terms, but this Adsense for Domains really takes the cake.

How can they honestly justify placing Adsense ads on parked sites with no content ?

I think you are way off base. We get great results from parked page advertising. It's very targeted and the customer has a very high conversion rate.

I hate it. Now, it is hard to find short and good domains. We are going to have to pay for domains at a very high price. Most domains are taken now.

The best PPC consultants refer to the clicks they pawn off on unsuspecting advertisers from these sites "distribution fraud". Most advertisers do NOT see "very high conversion rates" from these types of sites because they are not "very targeted" - they as usually very GENERIC and target the most general phrase but display ads intended for very specific phrases.

This is an interesting issue. But: is there any evidence of Google spiders reading the text of the ads, or these pages appearing in search results? So far, it all sounds like conjecture.

I've been trying to find data on the conversion rate of adverts on parked domains - mainly because I'm running a content network campaign that has inexplicably got some conversions from parked domains! Weird I know - I was about to exclude them but now I'm not sure if I should wait and see if there are any more conversions.

I've always disliked parked domains - not only do I manage Adwords, I own several websites and if I ever have an idea for another most of the domains are already 'taken'. I for one can't afford several hundred pounds to buy a domain back from someone who isn't even using it. If Google didn't allow advertising on parked domains would there be so many? I suppose it still depends on people like me being willing/unwilling to pay for them.
