The newest Top Level Domain extension, .me has opened for registration at 8am this morning. The new extension was intended to be for personal websites and has incredible potential for Internet users world-wide.
The first batches of domains went flying out of the registrars this morning and most of the obvious domains have already been taken. Many domain speculators who were trying to bulk register early this morning (such as Shoemoney) were slapped with notices their registrations had failed after they had been bragging on twitter and other sites about their conquests.
My experience was not so bad and I managed to register several fantastic catches to add to my ever growing domain portfolio. One thing you might want to consider is trying to register your city, your county or other locale specific domains which have huge resale value and are exempt from copyright infringement lawsuits.
If you haven’t already grabbed your .me domains, head on over to www.GoDaddy.com
and register a few before all the good domains are history.
If you already have bought a .me domain, please post your domain to the comments for this article or visit the Dot Me Discussion Forum
Good Luck !!!
~Dave~

I registered ten .me names in the landrush period, on the 12th of June I got an email from GoDaddy saying “The following domain name has failed to be registered” Error: ******.ME: cannot register - already registered:.. :(
Then on the 11th July I got an email from GoDaddy saying “Congratulations! We just received word that your PLASTER.ME application has been accepted by the Registry.” :)
The rest have multiple reg attempts, so are going to auction :(
But I did get a couple of good ones today..
GIFTSFORYOUAND.ME
TATAU.ME
TATTOOSFOR.ME
FIRSTTI.ME
LASTTI.ME
and
MOMENTSINTI.ME
there are still a lot of good ones available..
Cheers
I see most of us experienced webmasters have been grabbing .me domains to accent our SEO/Promotion endeavors.
What do you all think about the SEO potential with the .me TLD?? We’re all speculating that Google will accept the .me TLD but as far as my opinion goes, I feel very comfortable with .me more so than I ever felt about .cc, .ws, .mobi, etc.. The .info was great but GoDaddy made it the equivalent of .cn, cheap spammer domains…
.me is upper crust and like I mentioned in the article, I went after geo-domains, locale specific. I didn’t buy any .me domains with intention to sell. I got the .me’s that I could NEVER get the .com’s.
@Tattoos - shizz, wouldn’t it be cool if one of us could have bagged tattoo.me ?? Thing that sucks is some d!ck with no ink probably got tattoos.me ~~~~
oh, btw… a few .me’s I nailed today….
WMW.me
Ormond.me
Rehoboth.me
.. got a few more but I’m already negotiating to sell them so I’m not able to post them at the moment….
:-)
I just tried havesexwith.me taken.
Then i tried trust.me, of course that was taken, it probably went to a lawyer.
trust.me is on the list of “premium domains” held back from registration that will be auctioned off later.
Here’s the complete list :

Thankz for the post. I will be making a few purchases of .me domains today.
Do you know that how Google ban .info sites? I am not going to take that risk. Google often throw sites in Sandbox effect or ban them forever. I am afraid and am not going to take that risk. I am afraid of loosing all my hard work, resources, and money.
I’ve never heard anything about Google banning .info sites ??? Maybe if they are spam sites or sites with stolen content. In fact, I have several .info sites that rank quite high in Google search.
http://www.tattootattoo.info is one of them…
I haven’t had a chance to get a domain yet, but the one I’m looking at is still available, and no I’m not saying what it is.
I mostly want it as an extension to another site I have. Unfortunately I don’t have money to buy a bunch and try to resell them later.
Sort of funny, I was checking 3 of my .ME domains to see if they were indexed yet and the www.fhi.me showed a backlink on Yahoo from this site. So far I can not get the 3 indexed in Google yet. I’ll try to post to post them on your forum and see what happens.
