If you’re a publisher using Google Adsense to monetize your site or blog, one thing you must be aware of is that anyone can sabotage your Adsense account simply by copying your Adsense code into a page they control and then clicking on the ads with your publisher ID on them resulting in invalid clicks for you. As Adsense publishers we must always remember “Google helps those who helps themselves” and if we suspect invalid clicks or click fraud happening to our accounts it’s our duty to report it immediately to Google. Failure to maintain and manage your Adsense account can result in being banned by Adsense and a loss of all earnings.
I’ve been having a problem for the last few days with an excessive amount of clicks that weren’t coming from my Adsense channels. As a publisher with multiple sites in the Adsense system, I’ve been utilizing Adsense channels to track my earnings across my different websites and zones on particular websites. When I saw the clicks coming from outside of my channels I contacted Google immediately about the issue but I found out there is a way you can prevent this sabotage from happening to you.
All you have to do is change your account settings from “Allow any site to show ads for my account” to “Only allow certain sites to show ads for my account” and add your domains into the list of allowed sites. Please note, Google states “If you put your ad code on a page not on this list, ads will still show, but impressions and clicks will not be recorded”. To find this option, just login to your Adsense account and click on >> AdSense Setup >> Allowed Sites
Thanks to JenSense Blog Allowed sites now an option in AdSense and to sachin410 on DigitalPoint Forums for responding to my thread Adsense Account Sabotaged and providing the link to the JenSense post.
Happy Publishing
