One of the most critical and often overlooked of components an effective SEO (Search Engine Optimization) campaign is web hosting. While it may not be the first thing that comes to mind, it’s imperative to remember that search engine spiders such as the Googlebot can access your site at any time and if your website is down or not responding properly, it can have a dramatic effect on the way your site is indexed or represented in the search engine results. Finding a reliable and cost-effective webhosting provider can be a daunting task when considering the myriad of available options. That’s where a website such as WebHostingChoice.com can make all the difference in assisting potential webhosting customers to choose a provider that meets their needs. WebHostingChoice.com is a searchable directory of webhosting companies that allows you to search for providers based on several criteria and features such as Monthly Cost, Setup Fee, Diskspace, Bandwidth, User Rating, Scripting Languages, Database and much more. Below is a screenshot of the “Advanced Search” page listing the wide array of search criteria available to the end user:
Considering my background in webhosting, having started my first company in 1993, which I sold in 1996 and having been around the web hosting business for the better part of 15 years, I’m quite impressed with the comprehensive data represented by WebHostingChoice.com in their directory and search engine. All of the major providers I’ve worked with or heard of are listed in the directory and the data is up to date and accurate.
Additionally, Web Hosting Choice features human feedback in the form of user reviews and ratings that can be essential in making the mission critical decision of where to host your business or personal site. In my opinion, user reviews are a tremendous help when choosing a product or service and can serve to help you avoid the pitfalls of getting stuck in a service contract with a company who doesn’t provide adequate support or live up to their claims. User reviews can also send a positive message about a product or service and help steer consumers in the right direction. This is why I truly appreciate websites that offer comparison shopping with unsolicited feedback.
Don’t find out the hard way that your SEO campaign can be botched by choosing the wrong hosting provider. Make an educated decision based on factual information and always look before you leap.

Good article. A bad hosting account will make you look stupid so that’s why I host my blog with blogspot. The server is never down so it makes a good place to start and best thing is it’s free.
Great article. I am a web developer with more than a few websites. I currently host all of my site with one host, but have been exploring others. I will check out the Web Hosting Choice site.

Jared, I use blogspot too but I don’t think you can make big money with the free blogspot. I don’t think it is true that that server is never down as there was a time when I couldn’t login to update my blog.
However, this article is useful for beginners like me. Thanks for the article, Dave.
Well if your really serious abt your online presence you cannot do things right with a free web hosting or blog hosting services. Specially when it comes to blogging you gotta have your own domain with a fully featured web host.
