Very interesting read. I think that Google offers great service all around, but I do agree with you that they need to screen their advertisers better.

Unfortunately, many times it's all about the bottom line, isn't it?

As for John Chow, I didn't know who he was until all these posts started popping up in my rss reader with his name on them... lol! The snapshot of the google results is very instructive on how people are quick to jump on any opportunity to use a keyword. I was particularly amused by the John Cow one!

The Adwords ads are what amused me most. The blog is almost a total ripoff of John Chow's site except the people running it aren't intelligent enough to get their posts ranked and indexed in Google so they have to pay for placement. They'll probably be broke or offline in a few months,.

Hi John, thanks for visiting and commenting. I personally have nothing against you, but as publishers and bloggers we have to bow to the almighthy G! if we want real SERPS. As stated in the article, I do believe you have been made a scapegoat of unfairly. After all, it's about marketing, finding new techniques andn such but it seems certain organizations would rather us live and die by their rules.

btw, $12K per month was wee bit less than I was making when I retired as a C++ programmer for IBM. So I'm not in this game to boast about how much I make per month, Quite honestly, my pension, royalties from the bands I was in and a few other things keep me at a similar level, but you know what, there's only so much you can spend money on before it becomes boring especially when you find yourself surrounded by people who like you because you can buy them drinks, throw outrageous parties and things like that... FYI, even though I could buy a Benz or BMW convertible for cash, I drive a Dodge Grand Caravan... Prefer to spend my money on acquiring guitars and interest in the bank....

Anyway, thanks for the comment and btw, I removed the "nofollow" tags on this blog as soon as I brought it up, don't sell text links, or offer reviews for money... That's just me. Blogging is an intrinsic part of my life that isn't relegated to the pursuit of financial gains. I do it for freedom of expressio. Been there, done that...

Well said. I used to thing Google would create a better Internet, but I'm not so sure when I see the high ranking spammy sites that still exist for certain keywords.

Also, I'm pretty annoyed with Google at the moment. I ran an adwords campaign - luckily it was a trial, so not huge amounts of cash - just 100 clicks per ad campaign each day for 3 days. Anyway I checked my web CEO stats, and when Google were claiming I'd had 100 clicks - WEB CEO were only showing 2! I also checked my analytics account, and although it wasn't showing as low as WebCeo - it was only showing about half the amount of clicks.

Unless webceo and analytics are both wrong - this is scary, and I really don't want to run another campaign until it is resolved - if they even bother to sort it out.
