A few weeks ago I wrote about Monetizing Twitter without causing an uproar with the existing members. Since then there has been quite a bit of discussion amongst Twitter users as to how Twitter is going to attempt to generate income from their startup.
It appears there has been word from Twitter co-founder Biz Stone in an interview with the UK’s Marketing Magazine :

We are noticing more companies using Twitter and individuals following them. We can identify ways to make this experience even more valuable and charge for commercial accounts. |
Robin Wauters at TechCrunch had this to say :

No big surprises there, as this is often cited as one of the most obvious moves Twitter could make to start generating revenue, although many are expecting more from the startup who has become notorious for its lack of an apparent business model even after nearly 3 years of existence. Stone also said they will not start charging individual users, and that the move could “create revenue-generating features to tap into the way brands use Twitter as a hybrid marketing and customer-service tool.” |
A number of people commenting on the Marketing Magazine and TechCrunch articles expressed concern over how Twitter would classify accounts as personal or commercial. Some stated that celebrity or publisher accounts should be classified as commercial because their basic premise is promotion. That would classify 90% of Twitter accounts as “commercial”.
I believe that Twitter will use a “permissive marketing” strategy to offer commercial accounts to those who want or need them. Feature enhancements are a definite possibility but their has to be some sort of “credibility enhancement” that separates commercial accounts from personal accounts. It’s a great idea for monetizing Twitter and if the pricing point is reasonable, it could be a huge source of income.

Yeah i think twitter are already doing this in some ways with there recommended follow section on twitter home.. I would say these spots are paid for..:)
I’ve really picked up my usage of twitter lately. I can see more and more businesses using it as well.
I don’t think twitter started charging for commercial accounts. But sooner or later, twitter is going to charge good amount for commercial accounts. And I think it is legitimate, because lots of big corporations are making profits from twitter. And I don’t think big corporations will have any problems with this.

I hope they don’t start charging for bloggers like me. That would end my relationship with Twitter.
Can google really make money with twitter, does twitter make any money right now.
I believe they will start charging the commercial accounts if they want more other facilities or usage. If doesn’t want all this probably they can stick to a free account.I think many websites are doing such tactics.
